Alexandria Bay, NY Port of Entry Global Entry Interview & Appointment Guide

Next appointment in 5 days

The Alexandria Bay Port of Entry sits on Wellesley Island in the Thousand Islands, right at the U.S. side of the international bridge to Canada, serving travelers across the Thousand Islands region and northern New York. Because it's a working border crossing rather than a standalone office, getting there takes a bit more care than a typical enrollment center. Confirm the port's location on Google Maps before you head over.

As a border-crossing facility rather than a dedicated enrollment center, appointment availability here can shift with staffing and crossing volume. Rather than refreshing the Trusted Traveler Programs site by hand, savvy travelers set up Snapslot to send a real-time text the moment a cancellation opens up, so they can grab it before anyone else does.

Knowing the Global Entry Application Process

  • Submit Your Application: Create a Trusted Traveler Programs account and submit the Global Entry application with the fee.
  • Await Conditional Approval: CBP reviews your background before clearing you to schedule an interview.
  • Schedule Your Interview: If nothing is open, Snapslot can alert you the moment a cancellation appears.
  • Attend Your Interview: Tell the officer you're there for your Global Entry appointment; they'll direct you to secondary parking and into the Passenger Processing Center. Sign in at the counter, take a seat, and wait to be called.
  • Await Final Approval: Most applicants hear back shortly after the interview.

Preparing for your interview

Bring your passport, plus your conditional approval letter and a list of every country you've visited in the last five years. The interview is largely an honesty check, so answer plainly. Dress professionally, as you would for any appointment with a federal officer.

Getting to your appointment

Parking at Alexandria Bay, NY Port of Entry

If you're coming from the U.S. side, you'll be directed to secondary parking once you tell the officer you're there for your appointment. There's no separate public lot to look for; the routing happens at the primary inspection booth.

Taking Public Transit to Alexandria Bay, NY Port of Entry

There's no meaningful public transit to this crossing, and the driving route itself has a quirk worth knowing in advance. Coming from the U.S. side on I-81 North, you'll actually drive past the port and the Duty Free shop first, then use the turnaround before the bridge to Canada to come back south to the port. If a NEXUS lane is open, use that first; otherwise use a normal primary lane. Coming from Canada, take Highway 137 south to the U.S. border and follow the same secondary-parking process after inspection.
